What do I do if my name has changed?
If you change your name during your commission, you must file for a new
commission with the Ohio Secretary of State. Forms are available at
http://www.sos.state.oh.us
I became a notary in Geauga, but now live in another county. Where do I renew?
If you move out of Geauga County during your commission, but remain in the
State of Ohio, you should record your commission in the county to which you
moved. Take the certificate you received from the Governor’s Office to the Clerk
of Courts in the County in which you reside and register to vote in that county.
I am a notary and just moved to Geauga County. What should I do?
If you move to Geauga County during your commission, you should record your
commission at the Clerk of Courts in Geauga County. The Clerk of Courts is
located at 100 Short Court Street, Chardon and the hours of operation are 8:00
to 4:30, Monday through Friday. It costs $5.00 to record your commission.
Someone wants me to notarize a car title without the buyer’s name included.
