TO BECOME A NOTARY PUBLIC IN GEAUGA COUNTY

You must be a resident of Geauga County.

You must be registered to vote in your correct name and at your present address.

You may register to vote when you apply to become a Notary Public.

If you meet these qualifications, you must apply IN PERSON at 100 Short Court Street, Chardon, Ohio. Hours of application are Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. ONLY. The office is closed on all legal holidays and the day after Thanksgiving.

NEW: Notary applications can now be done, BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of the month, as long as it is not a legal holiday. You must email your request to smcgrew@geaugabar.org in advance.

The application process takes about fifteen (15) minutes, so please allow Yourself enough time. Applications cannot be made by mail, nor can anyone else pick up the application for you.

Bring a picture I.D., such as your driver's license, when you apply

The application fee is Forty Dollars ($40.00). This fee must be paid at the time of application and may be in cash or a check made payable to "The Geauga County Bar Association". This includes the cost of the test, a notary study booklet, and class.

When you apply, you will be given details about the exam, as well as the exam date.
