You must be registered to vote in your correct name and at your present
address. You may register at the time you apply to renew your notary.
Notary Commissions can be renewed no more than thirty (30) days before the
expiration date and within 30 days afterwards. Beyond 30 days, you must apply
for a new notary public. Renewal fee is Twenty Dollars ($20.00). The renewal fee
may be paid in cash or by check made payable to "The Geauga County Bar
Association".
Renewal applications are taken IN PERSON at 100 Short
Court Street, Chardon, Ohio. Hours of applications are Monday through Friday between
9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. ONLY. The office is closed on all legal holidays and the day after Thanksgiving.
Notary renewals can now be done, by appointment only, between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of the
month, as long as it is not a legal holiday. You must email your information to smcgrew@geaugabar.org
in advance.
Renewals take about fifteen (15) minutes so
please allow yourself enough time to complete the process. Renewals are not
taken by mail, nor can anyone else pick up the application for you.
You must have proof of your Commission, which is either the Certificate
issued by the Governor or the white, wallet size card that you received from the
Clerk Of Courts when you recorded Your Commission in Geauga County. If you
cannot find a copy of your commission, you may purchase a copy at the Clerk of
Courts, which is on the 3rd floor of the Courthouse. Also bring with
you a Picture I.D. such as your driver's license.
